Yoni steaming (also called vaginal steaming or v-steaming) is a time-honored self-care ritual rooted in many traditional healing cultures. At its core, it’s a way to slow down, soften, and intentionally support the pelvic space using warm steam infused with herbs.
Yoni steaming (also called vaginal steaming or v-steaming) is a time-honored self-care ritual rooted in many traditional healing cultures. At its core, it’s a way to slow down, soften, and intentionally support the pelvic space using warm steam infused with herbs.

At The Yoni Temple, we view yoni steaming as a ritual of care. An invitation to connect with your body, your cycle, and your nervous system through warmth, rest, and plant medicine.

We currently offer a thoughtfully curated blend of yoni steam herbs in-salon, designed to be used safely and easily at home. What Is Yoni Steaming?

Yoni steaming involves sitting (clothes removed from the waist down- bare skin allows the steam to reach the vulva area) over a bowl of warm herbal steam so the heat and aromatic properties of the plants gently rise toward the vulva.

The steam does not enter the vaginal canal. Instead, it creates warmth and circulation in the external pelvic area, which many people experience as deeply relaxing and grounding. Why People Choose to Yoni Steam

People are drawn to yoni steaming for many reasons, including:

  • Creating intentional rest and nervous system down-regulation

  • Supporting a sense of pelvic warmth and circulation

  • Connecting with their menstrual cycle or postpartum body

  • Ritualizing transitions (new moon, end of a cycle, emotional release)

  • Feeling more embodied and present in their pelvis

Everyone’s experience is different. Some feel physical softness or relaxation, others experience emotional release, and some simply enjoy the quiet ritual of care.

Our Yoni Steam Herb Blend: What Each Plant Offers

Our in-salon blend was created to feel gentle and supportive.

Here’s a closer look at the herbs included and why they’re traditionally used:

🌸 Blue Cornflower

Known for its soft, calming energy, blue cornflower is often used to promote relaxation and gentleness. It’s associated with soothing inflammation and bringing a sense of emotional ease.

🌹 Rose

Rose is deeply nurturing and heart-opening. Traditionally linked with emotional balance and self-love, it brings softness, moisture, and a comforting aroma to the steam.

🌿 Sage

Sage has a long history of use in cleansing rituals. In steaming blends, it’s often associated with clarity, grounding, and energetic release.

🌱 Raspberry Leaf

A beloved uterine ally, raspberry leaf is traditionally used to support pelvic tone and cycle awareness. It’s grounding and supportive without being overly stimulating.

🌾 Nettle

Nettle is mineral-rich and nourishing. In herbal traditions, it’s associated with replenishment and vitality, especially for people who feel depleted or tired.

🌼 Motherwort

Motherwort is traditionally linked with emotional steadiness and heart-pelvis connection. It’s often used during times of transition or when extra gentleness is needed.

🌿 Spearmint

Cooling and refreshing, spearmint brings clarity and lightness to the blend. It’s commonly used to create balance and a clean, uplifting feel.

💜 Lavender

Lavender supports relaxation and calm. Its soothing scent can help the body unwind, making it especially supportive for stress relief and nervous system regulation.

🌼 Chamomile

Chamomile is soft, comforting, and grounding. It’s often used to promote relaxation and ease, making it a beautiful base for a gentle steam experience.

How to Yoni Steam at Home (Simple & Accessible)

You don’t need special furniture or equipment to steam at home.

What You’ll Need:

  • A heat-safe bowl

  • Hot (not boiling) water

  • 1 Yoni Temple Blend bag of yoni steam herbs

  • A towel or blanket

  • A quiet, comfortable space

How to Steam:

  1. Add your herbs to the bowl and pour hot water over them.

  2. Let the water cool slightly, steam should feel warm, never hot.

  3. Place the bowl on the floor or in the toilet (lid up, seat down).

  4. Sit or squat comfortably over the bowl, allowing steam to rise.

  5. Wrap a towel or blanket around your waist to keep warmth in.

  6. Steam for 10–20 minutes, listening to your body the entire time.

This is a time for stillness. Breathing, journaling, or simply resting. Important Safety Notes

Yoni steaming should always feel gentle and soothing.

Please do not steam:

  • If you are pregnant or think you might be

  • During heavy bleeding

  • With broken skin, active infections, or immediately after waxing

  • If you feel heat, burning, or discomfort

If you’re unsure whether steaming is right for you, we recommend checking in with a trusted healthcare provider. A Ritual, Not a Requirement

At The Yoni Temple, we believe pelvic care doesn’t need to be extreme to be meaningful. Yoni steaming is simply one option for connecting with your body- never something you have to do.

Whether you steam monthly, seasonally, or once out of curiosity, the intention matters more than frequency.

If you’re curious, our yoni steam herbs are available at the salon, and our team is always happy to answer questions and help you decide if this ritual feels supportive for you.
